The Ninth AEES Annual Meeting will be held at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon on June 24-26, 2009.

The theme of this meeting is "Engineering for Ecosystem Services - Design at the Interface of Human and Natural Systems" and will feature research, assessment and design for a variety of ecosystem services at across multiple scales:

  • Engineering design and analysis ecosystem services assessments
  • Design of the landscape for regional planning and ecosystems management
  • Ecological design and restoration for streams, riparian areas, floodplains, and other landscape features
  • Ecological design of urban systems, including low-impact development, green infrastructure design
  • Research and design of phyto- and bio-remediation systems
  • Instrumentation systems and sensors for ecological engineering applications
  • Teaching and curriculum development for Ecological Engineering education

The meeting will include a combination of workshops, plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, posters, a student competition and breakout sessions.

Who Should Attend
The American Ecological Engineering Society (AEES) works to promote the protection and development of sustainable ecosystems that integrate human society with the natural environment for the benefit of both. Conference participants will include: environmental and ecological scientists, and engineers; landscape architects; policy makers and planners; federal, tribal, state, and local government agency personnel; and private interests, environmental consultants, environmental interest groups, and students.
